We want to wish the incredible Mom’s in our community a Happy Mother’s Day!
Daily we host kiddos and their Mom’s at Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery. Kids plates, M&M cookies, BBQ chips, PB&Js, grilled ham and cheeses, and the occasional egg salad on an Asiago bagel, go over the counter to some super cool kids and parents in our lives.
Everyone at Barstow’s appreciates the opportunity to watch these children grow up before our eyes! We feel blessed that Moms in our community want to support small family businesses and engage with local agriculture.
We also want to give a shout-out to the Farm Mom’s out there.
The Mom’s that do all of the regular Mom stuff – plus feeding the chickens, weeding the garden, driving dinner out to the fields during harvest time, schlepping us to 4-H meetings, doing payroll, and bringing the deposit to the bank.
Thanks to the Farm Moms who got the stains out of our school clothes even though we should have been in our play clothes. Thanks to the Farm Moms who woke us up at 5am when we forgot to set our alarm for morning chores. Thanks to the Farm Moms for getting us those cool back-to-school sneakers even when the milk price was damn low. Thanks to the Farm Moms for being EMT and nurse when we came home with gashes, splinters, bruises, and worse.
Thanks to the Farm Moms for nurturing our love of the land and respect for our herd. For raising us not only to be functioning members of society, but the next generation of the family farm.
Farm Moms have endured drought, floods, pests, low milk prices, damaged crops, sickness and injury, standing with her family in the good years and bad. We are very thankful for the Farm Moms here at Barstow’s Longview Farm!
