Eat the Season: Peach Shortcake
September 3, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
There are many good reasons to eat local, in season food:
- Local food is fresh and nutritious!
- It connects us with nature’s cycles and with the place we call home.
- Local food travels fewer miles from the fields to your kitchen table which means lower emissions, energy, and fuel usage.
- The purchase of local food keeps dollars circulating in your local economy.
- When you buy local food, it keeps farmland open which is good for wildlife, ground water, health and well-being, and food security.
Peaches are in season! Order and pick up servings of peach shortcake to enjoy with your family on Thursday, September 3. Eat the Season!
Barstow’s homemade peach shortcake will be available on Thursday, 9/3, between 11am-5pm for pick up in-store or at Barstow’s drive up window. Order as many $6 single servings as you need. We’ll get you the biscuits along with a lidded bowl of peaches for serving. In order to reduce packaging, larger orders will be packaged in larger containers, some assembly required 🙂 We recommend enjoying this dish with Maple Valley Creamery vanilla ice cream and/or Cabot whipped cream (yes, we have both!)
Pre-orders are required. Please call 413-586-2142, email info@barstowslongviewfarm.com, or stop by at Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery to place your order. We’ll need to know: name of pick up person, phone number, how many servings, and if anyone in your party has an allergy. We also have this handy Google Form where you can place your peach shortcake order.
Can’t wait for Thursday? Barstow’s has peaches AND nectarines by the quart in stock (while supplies last)! Keen to Eat the Season? We also have Hadley sweet corn, tomatoes, and potatoes available for pick up at the drive thru window.
Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery and Barstow’s Longview Farm is owned and operated by sixth and seventh generation Barstow’s. Nestled at the base of Skinner State Park and right alongside the Connecticut River, the dairy farm has been a part of the landscape since 1806.
Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery offers homemade baked goods and pies, lunch from local ingredients, farm fresh produce, farm raised beef, ice cream, and scenic views of protected farmland from the porch and dining room. This family friendly store is open daily year round. Come meet your neighborhood dairy farmer!
