“A” Name the Calf Contest

Here at Barstow’s Longview Farm everybody has a personality so everybody has a name. Calves born around the same time have names that begin with the same letter. These calves were born in the first half of January

Congratulations to our Name the Calf Contest winners!

You can name our calves too! Check out the Name the Calf Contest page to find the latest remote entry form.

The Name the Calf Contest is a beloved staple of visiting Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery.

However, we have temporarily removed the Name the Calf Contest from the bulletin board at the store to discourage gathering. Barstow’s is open for drive thru service and limited indoor service daily!

Our new girls need names!

There are about 100 heifer calves born each year on Barstow’s Longview Farm! Every calf born gets a number and is inputted into our computer system so we can keep track of her for her entire life on the farm. Each one of our animals has her own distinct personality, and to honor that, we make sure each calf gets a name. To make it even easier to keep track of them, calves born around the same time have names that begin with the same letter.

These calves were born in the first half of January and need names that begin with the letter A.

Names should be respectful and under 9 letters. All of the calves are female.

Contest winners will receive a photo in the mail of their calf and a coupon for one free kiddie ice cream, cookie, or mini cupcake from Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery.
